Do you know why sulfur and salicylic acid are always advised to fight pimples? That’s because this combination dries up acne really fast, especially the bacteria and pus inside of it. Get an acne treatment with these ingredients and spot treat in the morning and at night. A highly-rated sulfur/salicylic acid acne treatment is SAL3® Salicylic Acid and Sulfur Soap.
You look at the mirror and your zit is staring back at you, daring, if not taunting, you to pop it. But you know that popping zits isn’t always a good thing. Well, thanks to Dr. Oz and Oprah, you can now pop your zits the right way. With that said, we only recommend doing this sparingly and for whiteheads that are ready to be popped. Regardless of whatever method you choose to pop your zits, there can be adverse effects such as scarring and the spreading of bacteria!
Cool The Face
A zit equates to irritated skin so there will be redness in the area. The best way to reduce the redness is to cool the zit with ice. Ice it for 10 minutes and then apply a drop of Visine eye drops. What? Visine? Yes, it will reduce the redness of the pimple as it will restrict the blood vessels underneath it. Neat, right?

Well, that’s what concealer is for, right? For hiding blemishes and other skin issues you’d rather keep private. Pick a full coverage concealer stick or pot because these are the concealers with the richest pigments. It will effectively cover acne and blemishes. We recommend Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer as its oil-free and has buildable coverage.
Prevention Is Always First
Okay, this isn’t really an emergency fix but we’re putting it here because you need to know the best way to prevent getting breakouts. The three main factors in acne are hormones, diet and your skincare regimen.
As far as skincare goes, look for mild foaming cleansers with charcoal, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid and/or salicylic acid. Charcoal helps draw out impurities; benzoyl peroxide helps kill bacteria; glycolic acid sloughs away dead skin cells that may get trapped in pores; and, salicylic acid helps unclog pores.
All acne is inflammation and bacteria, so in order to reduce the amount of inflammation in your body, it’s important you eat an alkalizing diet that’s rich in leafy greens, vegetables, fruits and grains. Avoid acidic foods like soda, coffee, sugar, and processed foods.
Last, but not least, if the majority of your acne is on your chin and lower jawline, you most likely have a hormonal imbalance as the result of stress, improper sleep, and/or issues like PCOS. If this is the case, the best option is to see a dermatologist.
