Buying makeup brush shampoo? Here’s how to use dish soap instead.
When it comes to painting a canvas, you need high-quality brushes. The same concept goes for makeup. Great makeup application requires high-quality makeup brushes. And high-quality makeup brushes require some tender lovin’ care from time to time.
One way to give your brushes the attention they deserve is to clean them regularly and with gentle products. Using gentle cleansing agents will not only keep your makeup brushes intact, they’ll ensure your skin stays breakout- and rash-free!
How To Wash Makeup Brushes With Dawn Dish Soap
Get your hands on Dawn anti-bacterial dishwashing soap, olive oil, a plate, and some paper towels. Makeup gurus recommend using Dawn dish soap for its powerful degreasing properties.
Pour in some liquid soap and then pour olive oil on the other side. Begin swirling your dish soap and olive oil together until you feel you’ve got enough product in there.
Once you’ve picked up enough cleanser on your brush, swirl the brush on the palm of your hand to work the cleanser in its bristles. Continue swirling until you feel it’s worked in there enough. Do this with every brush you want to clean.
Once you’re done cleaning them, it’s time to rinse them. Only use lukewarm water as this is the best temperature for your makeup brushes’ bristles.
Also, make sure that the brush is pointing downwards with the bristles at the bottom. Never hold the makeup brush vertically as water will get into the brush therefore damaging the glue that holds the bristles together. This is the absolute last thing you want. Believe me.
What is that purple glove you see? That’s a spa cleaning glove and using it will really help clean and rinse your brushes properly. Just wear the glove and start swirling away!
If you’re done rinsing the brush, squeeze the bristles to remove excess water. This will make drying easier and faster.
Yaaasss! You’re almost done. All you have to do is dry the brushes with a paper towel and let them air dry. Once you’ve lined up your brushes all nice and pretty you’re officially done! You can now give yourself a pat on the back.
Cleaning your brushes may feel like a chore, but just know that it’s well worth the work as clean brushes will not only prolong your brushes’ life, but will keep your skin blemish-free and beautiful!
