Are you ready for spring and summer? For your makeup looks, you can take a hint from NYFW 2017 S/S runway shows.
Brr!!! It’s been really cold the past few days. I’m just thankful my mom gave me a swanky trench coat to keep me warm when I’m running errands or keeping up with my job. If you want to get more ideas about coats, read this. 🙂 While I tend to thrive in the cold, I can’t help but start dreaming about spring and summer. The good news is they aren’t really too far away. Best of all, we can already have a good idea on which kind of makeup to wear during these seasons, thanks to NYFW 2017 S/S.
16 Beautiful NYFW 2017 S/S Runway Makeup Looks
The recently concluded NYFW 2017 S/S makeup looks are amazing, I have to tell you that. But they tend to fall into three categories: contrast, earthy, and classic. The contrast looks consist of opposite elements like light eyeshadow and bold lips (or vice versa). Earthy makeup appears more natural and radiant by using neutral colors and natural finish makeup. Classic makeup all about red lips and smoky eyes. And yet, even if they revolve around central themes, they don’t look the same! Wanna know why? Accessories and hairstyle! 🙂 Come on, ogle with me at these gorgeous looks.
1. Anna Sui
This earthy look is one of my favorites. The almost-no-makeup look is made to look really elegant with a monochromatic makeup: burgundy eyeshadow paired with a lippy of the same shade family. These colors, meanwhile, are a nice play to match the ginger hair.
Barely there makeup complemented by large sparkling earrings? Smart move. The makeup itself already creates a beautiful contrast to the accessory’s glitter. And check out the brows. On fleek! The high arch lifts her face, creating proportion. But by keeping the brows thick, her face remains to look soft.
3. J.W. Anderson
This shows you nude makeup is definitely in this coming spring and summer. Not only that, you can wear it in many different ways. You can sport it with orange lips or a really nude matte lipstick.
4. Carolina Herrera
One word: classic. The smoky eye and the red lipstick is the perfect makeup pair when you’re wearing an equally classic dress, in this case, a black chiffon. And if you have a beautiful strong jaw, you can emphasize it with a slick-back hair.
5. Victoria Beckham
I’m a huge fan of Victoria Beckham (Spice Girls forever!). I find her collections to be sleek, structured, and actually wearable. So during the NYFW 2017 S/S, hers was the one I waited for. I came out of the show VERY satisfied because I got to see this cool makeup. A swipe of color on the eyes is framed nicely by the brows. And remember what about contrast? Here’s another example.
DKNY’s take on the spring 2017 collection is simply fierce! Look at those lips! All glittery! However, it remains classy for one good reason: the rest of the face looks natural.
7. Adam Selman
A great example of how to look fresh and young. You’ve got messy thick brows and a light makeup: subtle eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush.
8. Thom Browne
Wowsa! Thom Browne’s collection of the ’60s fashion pastel color is one of my favorites. A lot of my furniture pieces are vintage. But I am more drawn to the blue-on-blue look. And see the contrast again? Strong blue lipstick with subtle eyeshadows. To make sure the lipstick shade doesn’t overpower the eyes, the lashes are made to look much longer. You can get the same look too by using an eyelash extension and this great mascara.
9. Jill Stuart
If there’s one thing this NYFW 2017 S/S look is telling us, it’s if there’s already a lot going on with your eyes, keep the rest of your face simple and natural looking. The brows, on the other hand, are extended, to create the right frame for the eye makeup.
10. Baja East
When I say hot and fierce, Baja East truly nailed it. The greasy eye look and steamy hairstyle truly rocked the runway.
11. Marc Jacobs
Trust Marc Jacobs to give us something to talk about. The S/S runway show is all about women and multi-colored dreadlocks! But if you’re wondering how he gets to make it look really edgy and sexy, check out the makeup: nude and classy.
12. Alexander Wang
Celebrate the freckles! I can really tell this year’s spring and summer will be about looking more natural, and what better way to express that than to highlight, not hide, the freckles. Don’t have freckles? I kinda dissed it here, but if you can make it look really natural (a.k.a. don’t crowd your face with it, please!), you’ll do fine.
13. Rosie Assoulin
Ah, the sun-kissed skin. It makes you look as if you’ve just come from an amazing trip to the Bahamas. 🙂 For an amazing contouring technique to achieve the dewy look, click this.
14. Naeem Khan
You can pull off the no-makeup makeup look even if you have a dark skin. A bit of highlighter or a luminous foundation can even you look more radiant. And with a perfectly controlled curly hair, you’ll look even sexier.
15. Michael Costello
Orange-colored eyes and red lips are all you need when your dress and accessories can already provide you with colors.
16. Cushnie Et Ochs
Asian women love double eyelids, and it’s perfectly understandable: they make your eyes appear larger. But a lot actually don’t, and this makeup look tells you it’s okay. Work it out with your brows by framing them well and keeping them a little higher. This creates the illusion of bigger eyes. Finish the eye makeup with a few coats of mascara to create the full lash effect, opening the eyes some more.
