Soap Making 101 | DIY Scented Soap Tutorial
We have always been a fan of natural and organic products (like DIY makeup). Not only do they reduce the amount of irritants, pollutants and chemicals our skin comes into contact with, they are made with all natural ingredients that benefit and nurture our skin.
While incorporating as many all natural, organic products in your beauty routine is ideal, it’s not feasible for most of us (as in, the population that works a 9-5 job “us”) which is why it’s important to know which skin care products should always be organic as opposed to the ones that should be organic, but don’t have to be.
One of these products is soap. Regardless of whether we use it on our face or body, we should be extra diligent about what ingredients are in the soap we’re using, why they’re there and what their effect is on sensitive skin. If you want to skip that grueling guessing game, your next best bet is to make your own soap.
Making your own soap is incredibly easy and fun to do. The best part about DIYing it is the freedom allowed in tailoring a recipe suited for your skin type and concerns. If you’re looking for an antibacterial soap, you may use tea tree oil; if you’re looking for a formula that will control oil, lavender is your go-to; the combinations are endless when you make your own products.
