Looking trendy this season doesn’t have to cost you a lot. Check out every fall beauty trend and find out incredibly cheap makeup to create the look.
Are you excited for Black Friday? I surely am! We are just counting days! Can you believe that? I know since it’s a discount day we’ll be busy rummaging through luxury makeup brands like Mac or Hourglass, but hey, let’s not forget drugstore makeup too. After all, a deal is a deal regardless of its price, right? To give you more incentive to hunt them as well, I am presenting you every fall beauty trend this year and help you find the drugstore makeup to make a similar look.
Every Fall Beauty Trend That’s Easy on the Pocket
The current beauty fall trend is actually a combination of many different things. There’s something new, retro, and classic. That’s a good thing since you can have the look you want for the season. Pair the makeup with equally trendy clothing and the right makeup – no matter how cheap – and you’ll fit right in.
1. Barely There Makeup
Fall is my laid-back season, and I guess I can also speak for hundreds of ladies out there. It’s an awesome time to relax, meet with friends and family, travel for a holiday, and just have fun. The best makeup for that is the barely there look or the natural makeup. Basically, you’re still wearing makeup, but the shades are similar to your skin tone. Thus, you appear as if you’re not wearing any. It’s a great way to appear fresh and casual.
2. Dewy Look
I love to appear radiant or glowing (seriously, who doesn’t, right?), and the best way to do that, aside from taking excellent care of your skin, is to apply dewy makeup. This is somewhat similar to the barely there look, except there’s a secret: strobing or highlighting. By doing that, you allow light to “bounce” off your skin, creating a glowing effect! You also need to tame your use of powder makeup, choose the best foundation for your skin, and go for something cream based if your skin allows it.
For the look: Maybelline New York Fit Me! Foundation in Cream Beige ($6), L’Oreal Paris Magic Lumi Highlighter Concealer ($7.69), Maybelline New York Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Touch of Spice ($7.29), e.l.f. Studio Baked Blush in Pinktastic ($4.15) and NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Gloss in Creme Brulee
3. Bold Eyeshadows
From burgundies to metallics, reds, greens, golds, and oranges, yup, bold eyeshadows are definitely in this season. Not only that, you can go bold for bold: strong eyes and strong lips. But for the rest of the makeup, keep it simple and minimal.
For the look: Colourpop Super Shock Metallic Eyeshadow ($11.85)
3. Luscious Lips
Remember when I said this year’s fall beauty trend can also be a classic? This is one of them! If you love a classic red lipstick, then you’re in luck. I think one of the reasons for its popularity is the increasing trend of barely there or natural makeup. But don’t worry, no one’s going to arrest you if you go for something edgy like grunge (and you’ll learn more of this later).
If you don’t like red, you can pick something darker like plum, aubergine or purple, mauve, and berry. These colors can create a vampy, sexy fall look, more so if you pair it with this season’s nail colors.
For the look: ELF Matte Lip Color in Rich Red ($5.72), Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lipstick in Brimming Berry ($8.54), Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Berry Haute ($4.29)
4. Twiggy Eyelashes
There are a lot of old looks that are making a comeback over the last few years, especially this 2016, like printed pants and dresses, pantsuits, and even bell bottoms. When it comes to makeup, though, this is probably one of my favorites because I love Twiggy! In case you don’t know her, go to Google and learn more about this 60s fashion icon. As a homage to her amazing style, Twiggy lashes are trendy this year! Learn how to get the look here.
I’ll be honest: I can’t for the life of me ever thought this is going to be a fall beauty trend. In fact, I never imagined this makeup look would ever exist! But more women are actually applying glitters. To make it even more bizarre, a lot are applying glitter tears, which for me is a bit extreme. Nevertheless, if you fancy glitters, I’ve got two looks for you. First, we have a Harry Potter-inspired makeup, simply because “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is in theaters this week (go watch it with your kiddos this Thanksgiving!). And I do like the way the yellow glitter eyeliner works.
The Harry Potter makeup may also be great for your future themed parties this Christmas, but for a glam or sultry look, here’s another option.
PS: Just to let you know, you can apply glitter on other parts of your face like your lips or your cheeks. 🙂
For the look: Italia Deluxe Amazing Glitter Eyeliner in 7 Glitter Colors ($14.59), Crushed Silver Jewel – Holographic Cosmetic Grade Fine Glitter Powder (7.95)
6. Bushy Brows
As a makeup artist, I’ve probably seen almost all types of brows: thin or pencil, no brows, colored brows, etc. And one of them is part of our fall beauty trend list. 🙂 This one is called bushy or boyish brows (Yup, the queen of bushy brows Cara Delevigne is my best example) since, well, they’re thicker than the more modern styled brows. Many also like to call this look natural, but that doesn’t mean this doesn’t need any maintenance. You still have to do some tweaking just to get rid of the stray brows and to comb it to fill in the sparse areas, or you can use matte eyeshadow. For a more polished look, finish your makeup with a highlighter.
For the look: Etude House Drawing Eye Brow ($4.22), Pincer Professional Slanted Tip Stainless Steel Multipurpose Tweezers ($4.99)
7. Dark Makeup
On the opposite side of our makeup spectrum, we have the dark makeup like the grunge. Grunge is another oldie-but-goodie fashion and look that was huge back in the 90s. It’s a bit gothic, but it plays around with colors more. As an example, you can pair your dark smoky eyes with a very bright red lipstick. Another way is to pair a nude lippy with a winged or smudged eye line. For an everyday look, you can have soft grunge.
For the look: W7 In The Night Smokey Shades Palette ($7.29)
