How to Get Fuller Lips (Walk-Through + Lip Plumpers)

August 1, 2024 By Shev Lira

Want to learn how to get fuller lips without undergoing painful, expen$$$ive surgery? Keep on reading to learn how & with which products.

How to Get Fuller Lips (Walk-Through + Lip Plumpers)

Big lips have always been a big trend but has now gained prominence with the growth of social media. Nowadays, everyone on Instagram wants that Kylie Jenner pout or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley lips.

We’re going over how to give your lips an instant boost without making it look like you’ve been punched by your arch nemesis with a few easy techniques and lip plumper products.

How to Get That Pout

Exfoliate

The first easy technique is to exfoliate your lips to stimulate blood flow. Do this by applying an exfoliating balm all over your lips, then wiping it off with a towel.

You can also use a clean toothbrush to exfoliate by applying the balm on the toothbrush and then “brushing” your lips for that much-craved plumpness.

Lip Contour

Lip contouring is an Instagram trend you probably already knew about (I mean, even the Dalai Lama knows about it, right? Think he’s tried it?). To contour, use a lip pencil that’s slightly darker than your skin tone to outline your lips. Then, take a lighter shade and fill in the center of your lips.

|

Lip Suction

Want to get fuller lips in just 30 seconds? Lip suction is going to be your go-to technique then. Use a specific device like this suction cup by Fullips that’s designed to safely plump your lips. Please don’t use the ones people were going craving with in the #KylieJennerLipChallenge. We’re not exactly sure that’s the safest way to go, know what we’re saying?

|

Lip Gloss

Another technique is to apply lip gloss onto the center of your lower and upper lip. When the light hits your shiny gloss, it will create the illusion of a bigger pout.

Highlight Your Cupid’s Bow

My favorite and one of the easiest things to do is highlight your cupid’s bow. Do this before you apply lipstick or when you don’t feel like outlining your lips. You can do this with your favorite shimmer or highlighters.

Moisture, Ladies!

Moisturize those dry lips to make them look fuller. The drier your lips are, the smaller they’ll appear, so don’t be afraid to go to town on your favorite lip balm throughout the day to keep those babies soft and moisturized. My lip balm of choice is Vaseline. I can’t go anywhere without it!

Sweet Like Cinnamon

Have you tried applying cinnamon on your lips? To try this natural remedy, mix a 1/2 tsp or so of cinnamon with Vaseline and rub it against your lips. This will cause your lips to (temporarily) swell and tingle.

Shadowing

When there’s highlighting, there’s shadowing. This technique requires applying bronzer right underneath the lower lip to create a shadow, thus giving off the illusion of bigger lips.

Over Lining 101

Over lining is pretty much the same as contouring, as its done with a lip pencil that’s darker than your skin tone.

Tip: If over lining your lips, first pick which part of your lips you’d like to enhance to avoid looking too much like a Bratz doll. You don’t want to over line your entire lips, choose either the bottom or top lip, or the center of your top lip.

Peppermint Oil

Just like with cinnamon, applying peppermint oil on your lips may cause swelling. Peppermint oil is the main ingredient in the majority of lip plumping products.

Lip Plumpers

Speaking of using lip plumping products, these will be your go-tos if you’re looking for a hassle-free technique to fuller lips. Lip plumpers could be a lipstick or gloss, but there are a ton of brands to choose from. Our favorites are Buxom and Dior Addict (which was also voted No. 2 Best Lip Plumper on Total Beauty!)
