While you’re free to express yourself through makeup artistry, it is very important that you choose the best colors for your skin tone. Otherwise, every attempt to look good will just be an epic failure. Can you imagine wearing foundation 3 shades lighter or darker? Que horror! So before anything else, check out this makeup guide on how to find the most flattering colors for your skin tone.
The Most Flattering Makeup Colors by Skin Tone
Before you start shopping for your makeup haul, there’s one thing you must always keep in mind. Makeup is all about colors and how you blend those colors together. Not all colors will work on you, which is precisely why you need to know what colors will flatter your skin tone. Use this makeup guide below to help you with that.
1. Pink Base
A pink base contains red tones, especially around the eyes and nose. A pink base falls under the cool skin undertone. For your foundation, always pick the one closest to the skin and pick one with a cool undertone. For the lips, shades of red are best. As for the blush, mauve shades will look great on you!
Now for the eye makeup, it will vary depending on the eye color. If you have blue eyes, go for earthy shadows, black liner, and brown mascara. If you’re a green-eyed babe, go for shadows in varying purple hues to make those green eyes pop. Top the look off with black liner and brown mascara. For those with hazel brown eyes, anything from light gray to black shadows will look good. You will also need a black liner and brown mascara. Now if you have brown eyes, gray to black shadows will work well, but pick darker hues of it. Finish the look with black line and black mascara this time.
2. Neutral Base
A neutral base does not contain any distinguishable pink or yellow undertones. This means that your skin is quite flexible and versatile. You’re in the middle ground and you can go with something a bit warm and cool at the same time. When it comes to lip color, go for coral shades. For the blush, go for light pink shades.
For foundation, just pick a shade that’s very close to your skin tone. Now depending on how it looks on your skin, you can decide whether you want a foundie with a cool or warm undertone. When it comes to lip color, go for coral shades. For the blush, go for light pink shades.
For those with blue eyes, again, neutral or earthy shadows are best and it looks best with brown liner and brown mascara. If you have green eyes, you can use a purple or orange palette for the eyes, but stick to a brown liner and brown mascara also. If you have hazel brown eyes, light brown to dark gray shadows with black liner and brown mascara are highly recommended. And for those with brown eyes, you can be more adventurous. You can try pink, yellow, brown, purple, and dark green shadows. Finish off with black liner and black mascara.

3. Yellow Base
A yellow base contains very little redness; think olive tones. If you have a yellow undertone than you have a warm skin tone. For foundation, you definitely must pick something with a yellow undertone to it. As for the lips and blush, go for shades of peach.
If you’re a blue-eyed girl, brown shadows will look perfect. If you have green eyes, shades or purple are great! However, go for muted hues. As for those with hazel brown eyes, light to dark grays and browns are preferred. And for those with brown eyes, light shades of brown will make your eyes pop. With regards to eyeliner and mascara, all eye colors will look best in black liner and black mascara.
