Beautiful, glamorous, and yes – edgy. These are three words to describe Sara Garcia, one of our favorite makeup artists. Here she recreates her daily look: A glamorous punk rock makeup tutorial. Sara’s styling is what makes it so edgy. The bold brow and winged eyeliner are an achievable look to incorporate into any daily getup. Add some studs and a full chest piece to punkify it.
Everyday Punk Makeup Tutorial
I want to showcase the subtle look I create for myself every day. My schedule is often hectic, so I go from work to play with little time in between. This means I need a look that’s simple enough for day time, but that I can dress up at night with a little extra bronzer and some lipstick! My “signature” look is a fresh face with full coverage, defined cheeks, a subtle eyeshadow crease with winged liner, and strong brows (on fleek).

Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 1
I start by applying an eyeshadow primer that is absolutely essential to keep my makeup looking fresh all day. I’ve tried multiple drugstore brands and high-end brands of eyeshadow primer, but Too Faced Shadow Insurance is the only one I’ve used that stands the test of time.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 2
Second, I apply a thin layer of Revlon Colorstay 24HR liquid foundation using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. This sponge has saved my life! It really makes all the difference in my makeup routine, especially if you’re blending concealer, contouring, or only using a liquid foundation. You can find the sponge at ULTA for under $7.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 3
Now, to save on time, I don’t use concealer in my daily routine. I use two shades of L’oreal True Match Mineral Makeup to achieve my full coverage. First, I use the shade closest to my skin tone (in this case, it’s “Natural Buff”). Then, I use a lighter shade to go over my t-zone, under my eyes, and below my cheekbones. This mineral makeup is a great alternative to the more expensive Bare Minerals. A lot of women I know are nervous to use powders because they can be messy, but the packaging on these is so convenient! Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be touching up like a pro. It improves the look of my complexion with one layer, but I also love that I can layer on as much as I want without it getting cakey.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 4
Next, I apply bronzer from my ear to the middle of my cheek bone. In this case, I used Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer in “Medium Bronze.” I apply a peachy-pink blush on the apples of my cheeks, and a highlighting powder on the very top of my cheek bones. Using a highlighter improves the look of my complexion, gives a nice glow, and leaves my skin radiant. There are many different types of highlighters – from subtle to very shimmery. Turn your face from matte to marvelous with the one that’s right for you.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 5
Finally, we get to the favorite part of my routine, doing my eyebrows! I am guilty of over-tweezing for years and have very little brow hair. I’ve been using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in “Dark Chocolate” for about a year and it’s incredible. Waterproof, easily buildable and blendable, and even though it is more expensive than most pencils or powders, it goes a long way. I fill in my brows, clean them up using a highlighting pencil in “Matte Camille,” and set them with a tinted brow gel, both by Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 6
Now for the eyeshadow, create a subtle cut-crease. Blend a light brown eyeshadow in the crease of my eyelid, and add a shimmery eyeshadow just below my brow bone. I use L’oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in “Blackest Black” to create my smooth winged eyeliner.
Punk Everyday Makeup Tutorial – Step 7
To finish off the look, I used Urban Decay Perversion mascara. The more layers the better!
