I know how hard it can be looking for the best foundation for oily skin and I am here to help you out. In my work, I have encountered probably all types of skin. Dry and flaky, oily with visible pores, there are those with acne prone skin, you name it. I have tried a bunch of different foundation for different types of skin as well.
There are many different factors why a skin over-produces oil, it could be hormones, humid weather, or sometimes we forget to hydrate not knowing that the skin compensates for the lack of moisture thereby producing more oil. In which case, if you think you need to address this with some remedies, check out some of them here.
It’s an ongoing battle between finding your holy grail product and time. Trust me, I know exactly what your dilemma is, and I am aware of how difficult it is to find a foundation that will compliment your skin type, thus this list I created in the hopes of helping you find your best foundation.
Best Foundation For Oily Skin To Get On Your Next Makeup Haul
Check out this list I created and see which ones may be best for your skin type, with these many products in one place I’m sure you’ll get to the best foundation for oily skin sooner so you can be rocking your makeup with this awesome nail look longer for a night out! Please take note however that not all products mentioned in this list may work for you, but I assure you, you’ll find something you’ll love and you might even consider your holy grail.
1. Bare Minerals SPF 15 Matte Foundation
The Matte Foundation from Bare Minerals is one of the best foundation for oily skin that is mineral based. It has SPF that will protect your skin and it claims to improve your skin health over time. Like all Bare Minerals products, the makeup is oil and wax free, making it a good alternative for oily skin, or any skin type, for that matter. For ladies with excessively oily skin, there may be a need to reapply after a couple hours because the makeup is not long-lasting. Get yours here!
2. L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation
A fairly new formulation but is already selling out like hot pancakes. Many reviews of this foundation claim that it’s the best foundation for oily skin in the drugstore aisle. It claims to wear for up to 24 hours but, I hope you don’t plan on doing that because we all know that’s not healthy for your skin. It also has a wide range of colors to choose from. It sucks because this product is always OOS but thankfully it’s always available online.
3. Liquid Clarins Ever Matte
No products found. If a matte finish for oily to combination skin is what you’re looking for, Liquid Clarins may be the best foundation for oily skin for you. Reviewers have said this foundation is good at concealing blemishes for hours on end, around 10 hours, actually. This matte foundation comes in 19 different shades which is refreshing especially for a higher-end brand. It also smooths and evens out the complexion.
4. Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 Evens and Corrects
This foundation really evens out and corrects the skin tone, it is long wearing and can even be lightweight and smooth. The Even Better Makeup fares better with oily skin — for those of us with dry skin, or even drier patches, the makeup may appear uneven. It reduces the appearance of pores and gives great coverage all day. It is thick but not sticky, best of all it finishes off into a demi-matte finish. If you’re having a hard time getting this foundation, I suggest you check it online here at Amazon.
5. Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup SPF 10
The Double Wear Stay in Place foundation really does stay on the skin with a light feel and full coverage. The look it produces is comparable to porcelain and comes in 12 different shades. This could very well be one of the best foundation for oily skin because it manages to hydrate the face while controlling facial oil, leaving skin to look radiant and glowing all day long. It is also advised to blend quickly and carefully. This is on the pricey side but every penny spent is worth it, although I’ve read negative reviews from other bloggers, but for me this product remains to be on top when it comes to oily skin ladies.
6. Maybelline Fit Me Poreless Matte Foundation
Another drugstore brand that has made this list is the Maybelline Fit Me Poreless Matte foundation. It provides really good coverage and its formula beautifully makes the appearance of pores smaller. It also lasts the whole day and it creates such a beautiful velvety texture. Sometimes you get surprised by what you find in the drugstore aisle. There are only two drugstore foundations I trust when applying makeup on my clients with oily skin and that’s L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte and this baby right here, super affordable but really dependable.
7. Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation
The Kat Von D Lock-It foundation works wonders for people with very oily skin due to the formula of the makeup which allows the facial oils to be absorbed. It also behaves well in humidity. Of course, personally, I think this could be the best foundation for oily skin because of the formulation, coverage, and performance. One user with rosacea reported that this foundation completely concealed the pink area on her face. Naturally, since it’s made by Kat Von D, the foundation amazingly covers tattoos. My sister ordered this online and luckily the shade was spot on! LOL
8. Liquid Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme Foundation
The oil free supreme foundation contains Vitamin E and A along with green tea leaf extracts that hydrate the skin, it is not a long wearing type of foundation and is more on the sheer coverage. If you’re one who doesn’t like a lot of coverage, this baby might be for you, it’s a little bit like a tinted moisturizer but for oily skin.
9. Lorac Natural Performance Foundation
If you’re looking for medium to full coverage product that is buildable this may be the right foundation for you. It is efficient in covering up blemishes and red spots. This foundation also performs well with dry skin because it does not cling to dehydrated areas. The Natural Performance Foundation stays on all day.
10. M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid
MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation provides a medium to full coverage and reduces the size of pores. It has SPF for sun protection but has been associated with skin breakouts. This is why it’s essential to do make sure you cleanse at the end of the day if you do decide that the Studio Fix Fluid is right for you.
11. Make Up For Ever – Ultra HD High Definition Foundation
The new formulation of high definition liquid foundation from Make Up For Ever is undeniably one of the best when it comes to Television and Photos. It looks just like skin. This foundation is beautiful for dry to oily skin types but will require touch ups for ladies with oily skin.
12. NARS Sheer Matte
This foundation has gotten really good reviews for its performance for oily skinned ladies. It dries to a matte velvet finish but is not full coverage and has 15 different colors to match your skin tone. It performs well even in high heat and humidity.
13. Neutrogena SkinClearing Liquid Makeup
Great lightweight coverage that lasts throughout the day, Neutrogena Skin Clearing Makeup is active in balancing oils on the face. This foundation treats and prevents blemishes with the salicylic acid. It settles smoothly and is ideal for acne prone skin. Not to mention, it also comes in 12 different shades. I haven’t tried this one, though, but hey I’ve heard great things about this foundation it’s just that I have too many in my kit that I can’t find the perfect reason to grab one. If you have a problematic skin I suggest you try this one out for its price you have nothing to lose!
14. Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation
The Perfect Refining Foundation has a great streak for steady coverage for acne prone skin. It is fairly fluid and produces a light and velvety-matte look, yet manages to do an amazing job in terms of coverage. It may oxidize and get darker, but this varies from person to person. It works amazingly in photographs as well.
15. Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer
The Stila Stay All Day Foundation is a staple product in many professional makeup artists’ kit. The creamy formula provides good coverage and also prevents premature aging but can feel heavy on the skin for some users. The petit package includes the foundation, concealer, and brush.
I also want to include this video by Nikkia Joy that shows you how to stop your makeup from getting oily and shiny throughout the day. Check it out:
