The Amazing Benefits of Coconut Oil

January 18, 2020 By aileen

Coconut oil is great for replenishing healthy skin, hair and overall wellness! Organically grown, extra-virgin coconut oil presents an impressive array of anti-aging benefits including reversing hair loss, healing and soothing chronic skin irritations, diminishing lines and wrinkles. It can also help to protect the skin from damaging UV rays, prevent stretch marks, and repair damaged hair brought about by hygral fatigue.

Benefits of Coconut Oil

Once relegated to a dusty back shelf at the health food store, extra-virgin coconut oil is now readily available in grocery stores all across America.

Free from artificial chemicals, additives or preservatives, extra-virgin coconut oil is a product pressed from fresh coconut milk and meat. It retains the distinct taste and fragrance of fresh coconuts.

During processing, special care is taken to use a minimum amount of heat in the extraction of the oil.

Laden with antioxidants and medium chain fatty acids, extra-virgin coconut oil has remarkable anti-microbial properties. Comparatively, non-virgin coconut oil is typically made from mechanically processed copra, the dried meat of the coconut. The oil is extracted by chemicals and then bleached to sanitize the oils that may have contaminated the oil in less than sanitary conditions.

Coconut oil produced by this process is virtually odorless, as copra-based coconut oils retain no fragrance or taste at all due to the refining process. In fact, many coconut products contain artificial coconut scents or flavoring.

Organically grown, extra-virgin coconut oil is not only chemical and toxin-free; it is non-hydrogenated. Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils tend to increase serum cholesterol levels that directly contribute to heart disease.

Fresh, Bright and Supple Skin | Benefits of Coconut Oil

The most effective tool in any anti-aging arsenal, extra-virgin coconut oil helps prevent the skin from developing liver spots, wrinkles. Virgin coconut oil can help prevent the skin from developing freckles, age or liver spots, crusty dry patches and other age revealing skin distractions caused by time and overexposure to sunlight.

Applied topically, the healing oil is absorbed directly into the skin

Although extra-virgin coconut is not a natural sunblock, it the perfect for relieving a nasty sunburn. Just a couple of drops of the oil rubbed into the fingertips quickly repairs torn and damaged cuticles. The lubricating oil is also a great natural remedy for cracked heels and dry, rough elbows.

Rich in p-coumaric and ferulic acid, this extra-virgin oil exhibits the amazing ability to fight free-radical damage, a major cause of accelerated aging. Applied topically, extra-virgin coconut oil keeps skin soft and supple, helps heal wounds, relieves the pain of insect bites and burns, softens the appearance of old scars, and with regular use helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Reverse Hair Loss | Benefits of Coconut Oil

Widely used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, extra-virgin coconut oil is a highly effective treatment for dry and damaged hair, preventing dandruff and lice, adds shine and volume to hair and promotes re-growth.

Massage scalp with a small amount of warm oil before washing hair or apply as a hair mask for several hours for a deep conditioning treatment.

Protein loss from the hair shaft causes it to become weakened and damaged. The result is brittle, frayed, frizzy, and dry hair. In a research study that compared the application of mineral oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, grape seed oil and coconut oil to hair, the later was the definitive winner. It works by conditioning hair shaft and scalp while encouraging the re-growth of previously damaged hair. It stimulates new hair growth as it nourishes your scalp.

If you are suffering from a receding hairline or overall thinning, massage your scalp with warm coconut oil at bedtime regularly. Add three to five drops of rosemary essential oil to the coconut oil to stimulate circulation. You will notice the difference in volume and noticeable regrowth within weeks.
