Use A Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge In Different Ways

The beauty blender is an iconic makeup sponge, as we all know. It is a multi-awarded product that has consistently held its own throughout the years. If you’ve ever owned one, you know why that is.

Beauty Blender: The Game Changer

What is a Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge?

Its aqua-activated sponge material is unlike any in the market. The ability to bounce back to shape even after a thorough squeeze is something I have never seen in any other makeup sponge before.

Truly, this product is a must-have for any makeup aficionado, but do you know how to maximize its use? If not, check out this list of things you can use it with.

The product is truly a game-changer in many ways. Not only is the Beauty Blender able to create such a beautiful creamy finish to the foundation, but it can also be used for multiple functions.

1. Ace Your Base

I am a believer in brushes, but I am also completely enamored by the way the Beauty Blender works a foundation on the skin. You can apply the product on the sponge or you can choose to lay it on the skin first before blending it out with the Beauty Blender.

It won’t matter as much, because you’ll almost always have a flawless finish with it. Whether you are using a matte finish foundation or otherwise, it’s a task too easy for this makeup sponge.

It’s most likely because of the way the sponge works. It is activated by water, so you have to wet it first. It’s pretty amazing how the sponge seems to repel too much product on it.

So that when you blend out foundation with it, more products is laid on the skin than on the sponge. Whereas with a regular sponge blender it’s not hard to imagine half of your product on the makeup sponge instead.

2. Conceal with It

It could be the porous material that it’s made out of. Even thicker, heavier products are easy to blend with the Beauty Blender such as what is evident when using a concealer. Concealers usually have a higher amount of pigment on them and even with concealers that set quickly, one can see how easy it is for the sponge to blend in the makeup.

3. Sculpt with It

The recommended way of using the Beauty Blender is by doing a bounce motion on the skin. This works wonderfully well with a Beauty Blender precisely because of the structure of the material used on this sponge. It can easily go back to its original shape making it “bouncier” and therefore lightly pats the product on.

In the same way, you can apply contour by applying the contour color on your face and with the Beauty Blender. The bounce technique blends out any harsh lines into a beautiful gradient shift, which is important especially for creating shadows on the face.

4. Blush with It

Aside from the contour colors and the makeup base, you can also use this beauty sponge to apply blush on your cheeks. The bounce motion is perfect for this, but you can also use a “rolling” technique to blend out cream blushes.

A little similar to the bounce method, the rolling technique is essentially rolling the tip of the sponge or the bottom part – whichever you happen to use – against your skin to blend out the pigment.

5. Bake with It

Picking up powder products is not a problem for the Beauty Blender. It can easily pick up loose or compact powder for application on the skin. Many professional makeup artists use this to “bake”. It effectively does the job, it also picks up more products to deposit on the skin which actually cuts time.  Not only does it effectively does the job but it also does it efficiently.

Even after all of the above mentioned, the best part about the Beauty Blender is how easy it is to clean up. Just put it under running water, lather it with the Beauty Blender Soap, and squeeze out the water. You can air-dry the makeup sponge or pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to zap out bacteria and germs.

Here are some beauty blender makeup sponge tips and tricks from Kandee Johnson:

I think it’s amazing the way that the Beauty Blender is multifaceted. You can use it for different makeup applications, a lot of times you can use it for erasing errors too. We are definitely lucky to be able to have a tool that we can use to further our crafts.
