1. Keep hydrated.
Don’t you know that H20 is essential for blood circulation? And not only during the winter season that we have taken enough of this clear beverage – it is essential that we have 2.5L of water at a minimum per day.
2. No Lip Licking.
Myth – Lip licking will moisturise cracking lips. Fact – it removes the lips natural lipids. So Stop.
3. Exfoliate.
Like in our bodies we scrub off the skin to allow new skin to grow. After brushing scrub your lips with your good old toothbrush.
4. Moisturise.
It’s a must to apply a good lip balm after exfoliation this is to seal in the moisture and will protect the new skin.
5. Lip Balm’s Hydrating Ingredients.
Petroleum, Dimethicone, Beeswax and Organic soybean oil are the best products to have because they seal in the moisture. Contrary to the claims – Chapstick tends to be waxy and doesn’t have that much help either.
6. Lip Balm’s Drying Ingredients.
These are the ingredients to stay away from avobenzone and oxybenzone – also those that contain alcohol, flavours and fragrance.
7. Humidifier.
Dry air is very much present during this season. Purchasing a humidifier will bring that moisture at home.
8. Stay Indoors.
As much as possible. The winter’s cold and dry weather contributes much to that dry, cracked lips.
9. Higher elevation.
The more exposure to sun and the air is thinner and drier making it worse to the lips.
10. Scarf.
Protect the face with scarf when going out.
