The Only Way You Should Be Washing 3c Curly Hair
3C curly hair is the most misunderstood hair type, caught between curly and kinky hair. Until recently, it was unrepresented and up until remains a tad bit misunderstood. It’s more tightly coiled than 3B ringlets, but its corkscrew shape is not as densely packed as zigzag-shaped kinky hair.

How To Wash 3C Curly Hair:
- Soak your hair in water. Brush your hair from the tips working your way up to the roots. This will gently detangle your locks.
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo or a moisturizing shampoo and massage it into your scalp thoroughly. Use your knuckles to kneed your scalp so you avoid scratching yourself. Focus on your scalp rather than your lengths, allowing the lather to naturally fall from your roots to your tips. Sulfates tend to strip your hair of much needed moisture. Because curly hair is characterized by dry tresses, stick to shampoos for natural hair or moisturizing and hydrating shampoos. If your hair is feeling extra dry and brittle, look into co-washing.
- Use a deep conditioning treatment or a daily conditioner after washing your hair. Apply it to the entire length. Skip the shampoo or wash your hair with conditioner (co-washing) if your hair is dry.
- While letting your hair soak in conditioner, brush your hair with a Wet brush or a detangling brush.
- Put your hair up in a bun and let the conditioner rest. Rinse off the conditioner after an hour.
- Section your hair so that you can distribute the following products evenly. However, you section your hair – whether in twos or fours – depends on you.
- Next, apply your leave-in conditioner. In this tutorial, we’re using the Camilla Rose Moisture Milk.
- Follow it up with the Camille Rose Moisture Butter to keep your hair soft and bouncy. We’re doubling up on moisturizing products because curly hair tends to get dry.
- Now that we’ve tackled moisture, it’s time to lock down those curls. So now apply curl gel all over your lengths. Run your fingers through your hair to make sure each strand is soaked in product.
- Repeat steps 7-10 on each section of your hair.
- Finally, apply gel or pomade on your baby hairs along the hairline with a toothbrush. This will help tame them, keeping them close to your scalp.
Tips for Maintaining 3C Curly Hair
1. Hands Off
This goes without saying – do not brush curly hair once dried unless you’re fluffing your hair from the roots.
Refrain from running your hands through your hair. As tempting as it is, tugging and pulling on your hair may lead to damage and breakage.
