Best Makeup Looks from the Billboard Music Awards 2016

In case you missed this year’s Billboard Music Awards, here are the best makeup looks we saw on the red, wait, pink carpet.

Best Makeup Looks from the Billboard Music Awards 2016

The Billboard Music Awards was hot. Every look that came down the red carpet was on-trend, from bold updos to daring smokey eyes.

Stars like Britney Spears, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, and others stunned us with their steaming summer looks. For summer beauty inspo, let’s look at the stars to see what’s hot, not and rising.

Below are our favorite beauty moments from the Billboard Music Awards’ pink carpet.

1. Britney Spears

|

The veteran pop star rocked big, sexy blonde waves. She also looked amazing in her signature red carpet look: bold smokey eyes and nude lips. We want to know who does the look better: BritBrit or Kim K.?

2. Rihanna

|

Bad gal Riri, who is known for her bold red carpet looks, surprised us with soft makeup and some fringe. We like the sultry brown eyeshadow and lip color. Is this an indication of what Fenty Beauty (Rihanna’s makeup line) will look like?

3. Kesha

|

We loved Kesha’s shaggy bangs and messy waves. Her soft pink makeup and dramatic lashes kept the attention on her outfit, which was a tribute to the late Prince.

4. Demi Lovato

|

Tons of lashes is the name of this look. Smokey purple eyeshadow definitely brought out the color of Demi’s brown eyes. Overall, this look is a stunner that we can definitely see ourselves wearing the next time we hit da club.

5. Ciara

|

We don’t know where to start–with her nude lips, nude highlights or face-framing bangs? We think Ciara’s the only one who could pull off this messy ponytail on the red carpet.

6. Jessica Alba

|

Now that’s how you turn up a cat-eye. Jessica Alba–known for her soft, romantic looks–made quite the statement in a sharp updo and graphic blue shadow.

7. Mila Kunis

|

Strong brows, lilac shadow, and a glowing highlight make for a boss beauty look. Adding a messy bun tones down the look for summer. We love this simple, easy-to-recreate look.

8. Lucy Hale

|

The Pretty Little Liars star matched her magenta eyeshadow to her wine-colored ensemble. Her BFF/makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan, used Diorshow Mascara in Black to get those elongated lashes that really make her green eyes pop.

9. Keke Palmer

|

The Scream Queens star’s blunt Betty bangs and sky-high bun were the cutest red carpet combo. We also loved her soft, fresh makeup created by Matthew Vanleeuwen.

10. Meghan Trainor

|

We definitely love this simple sparkling pink eye makeup. And, thanks to her glimmering gown and auburn waves, she’s totally emitting those #mermaidvibes.

11. Zendaya

|

Olive skin for the win! Zendaya kept her skin fresh and glowing with rose-toned makeup. She kept the focus on her impeccable brows which stole the spotlight.

12. Ariana Grande

|

There it is: her signature ponytail and cat-eye makeup. This time, Ariana added a twist to her look by adding mauve lipstick.

13. Halsey

|

Halsey kept it natural with her cute and curly pixie cut. We also loved her coral-ish nude lips.

14. Tove Lo

|

Tove Lo kept it simple with pink toned makeup, but the real attention-grabber was her bohemian hairstyle. How very Alanis Morisette of her.

15. Fifth Harmony

|

#SquadGoals. We loved their matching black gowns and hairstyles. But our favorite looks of this group? Lauren and Normani’s stunning bold lips.

The verdict is in and smokey eyes are still very much trending. Judging by the looks to grace the pink carpet, nude lips are here to stay and natural-looking makeup is becoming more the norm, rather than the exception. The trend towards natural makeup is something we’ve noted since this year’s NYFW and are so excited to see! As we’ve always thought, makeup should enhance, not hide your natural beauty. :)
