You know what? Time and again, I’d see DIY lip scrub recipes and think to myself, “wow, that looks great, I should try it!” But then, I never get around to making one. I always relied on my old DIY lip scrub with Vaseline and white sugar. It gets kinda boring when you keep using the same thing over and over again, which is why, today, I’m ready to try new lip scrub recipes with you! For this tutorial, you’ll learn how to do a pumpkin pie spice coconut lip scrub and a couple more recipes. Let’s start!
Coconut DIY Lip Scrub for Soft and Smooth Lips
What You’ll Need:
- ½ tsp. brown sugar
- ½ tsp. coconut oil
- Pumpkin pie spice (or other flavors you prefer)
- Honey
- Small tub
Step 1: Add the Brown Sugar
In a small mixing container, add 1/2 tsp. of brown sugar. FYI, brown sugar doesn’t just help in sloughing off the dry skin, it actually helps in absorbing the moisture around and depositing it onto your lips.
Step 2: Add the Coconut Oil
Now, add 1/2 tsp. of coconut oil into the mixture. As you may already know, coconut oil is a great moisturizer and it has Vitamin E that’s healthy for your lips too.
Step 3: Drizzle the Honey
Drizzle some honey over the mixture. Honey helps retain moisture on your lips and can also aid in preventing infection for those suffering from chapped lips.
Step 4: Put Pumpkin Pie Spice
Add a pinch of pumpkin pie spice on your mixture. If you don’t like it, you can use other spices or flavors.
Step 5: Mix it
In this tutorial, a candy cane was used for mixing the ingredients together. Of course, you don’t need to use a candy cane to mix your DIY lip scrub, but it is indeed more fun that way!
Step 6: Transfer Into a Small Container
You’re all done! Just transfer the mixture into a clean and empty container. Just remember to make it in small batches because products with raw ingredients definitely have a shorter shelf life.
Whoa! Look at our final product. That looks so good, right? It works great on your lips too!
Ooops! We’re not done yet, ladies! Because making these things are so easy, you can take on different DIY lip scrub recipes whenever you feel like making a new batch. I’ve rounded up some of the best ones and here they are!
Check Out These Yummy DIY Lip Scrub Recipes You Must Try
1. Homemade Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub
One of the things I really love about DIY lip scrubs is that they’re often edible! Take this chocolate sugar lip scrub for example. It’s made of Hershey’s Cocoa powder, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and grapeseed oil, which will leave your lips smooth and sweet after exfoliating. By the way, we like chocolate because it has antioxidants, which is always good for you. And come on, I was instantly sold on the Hershey’s cocoa!
2. DIY Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Are you one of those gals who loved the Lush bubblegum lip scrub? If you are, why don’t you just make your own DIY lush lip scrub then? All you need are granulated sugar, Olive oil, bubblegum flavoring, and pink food coloring (if you want) to make this Lush dupe. It’s a great lip exfoliator that will really slough off the dry skin.
3. DIY Minty Almond Lip Scrub
We want to get rid of the dry skin, but we don’t want our lips to look dull. Well, this minty almond lip scrub will make sure the dry skin is removed and your lips will still be hydrated, thanks to the sweet almond oil. You don’t even have to wear lip balm all day too! Just mix honey, sweet almond oil, brown sugar, and peppermint essential oil to make this baby.
4. DIY Coconut and Honey Lip Scrub
This DIY lip scrub is a moisturizer bomb on your lips! Coconut oil has plenty of skin benefits and it’s no surprise why people also love a coconut lip scrub. But for this recipe, you have to mix coconut oil, honey, and white sugar. The sugar exfoliates, while the coconut oil and honey will moisturize the lips. Just a heads up, white sugar is more abrasive than brown sugar, so please exfoliate more gently.
5. DIY Coffee Lip Scrub
Who loves coffee? We do! This coffee and peppermint lip scrub is like heaven on your lips. Coffee is a great exfoliator because it’s gentler than sugar, while the peppermint keeps the skin hydrated. Peppermint also helps ease the pain if you’re suffering from chapped lips. To make this DIY lip scrub, just mix coffee grounds, peppermint essential oil, and coconut oil.
