How to Make Your Favorite New Coffee Scrub
1. How to Make a Coffee Scrub: For Dry, Sensitive, and Troubled Skin
What You’ll Need:
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup coffee grounds (freshly ground or used and dried grounds)
- 1 small mixing bowl
How To:
- Mix the coffee grounds and brown sugar into a small mixing bowl and stir evenly.
- Stir in the coconut oil, followed by the vanilla extract. Combining wet ingredients and dry ingredients slowly will help them blend together more easily.
- Whisk and fold the ingredients until they become a homogenous mixture.
- Massage the coffee scrub onto your face and body without applying excess force and pressure, allow the texture of the grains to do the exfoliating.
- Continue massaging for five to ten minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. This recipe will have a slick consistency because of the coconut oil, so be careful not to slip if you’ll be using this on your feet.
2. How to Make a Coffee Scrub: For Oily, Acne-Prone Skin
What You’ll Need:
- 1 tablespoon fine coffee grounds
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 small mixing bowl
How To:
- Pour the coffee grounds, baking soda, and sugar into a small mixing bowl.
- Add in the honey and stir. Honey has a thick consistency and expect it to be difficult to distribute.
- Mix in the water and blend until it becomes a homogenous mixture.
- Use your fingertips to massage the paste onto your clean face, and gently rub in circular motions.
- Rinse off with warm water after five to ten minutes.

3. How to Make a Coffee Scrub: For Cellulite and Face and Body Acne
What You’ll Need:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup used coffee grounds
- 1 small mixing bowl
How To:
- Combine the olive oil, brown sugar, and used coffee grounds into a small mixing bowl.
- Mix the ingredients together until it turns to a paste-like consistency. If the mixture is too watery, you may add more brown sugar to thicken it.
- Gently massage the coffee scrub onto your face and body in circular motions, beginning from your feet up to your chest. Be careful not to press the scrub onto your skin and allow its gritty texture to do the exfoliating for you.
- Continue massaging for ten minutes.
- Wash off the scrub with lukewarm water.
4. How to Make a Coffee Scrub: For Tighter, Plumper Skin
What You’ll Need:
- 2mL vitamin E oil
- 4.5 ounces finely ground coffee beans
- 0.25 ounces blood orange essential oil
- 2.25 ounces fine pink Himalayan salt
- 3 ounces almond oil
- 2 ounces brown sugar
- 2 small mixing bowls
- *0.5 ounces caffeine extract (water soluble)
- *20 drops steam distilled coffee oil
- *0.3 ounces coconut orange cardamom fragrance oil
*Optional ingredients. Simply omit the optional ingredients from the recipe if you want to opt-out of them. This will not make your coffee scrub less effective!
How To:
- Mix all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl: finely ground coffee beans, fine pink Himalayan salt, and brown sugar.
- Stir the dry ingredients and make sure each ingredient is evenly distributed.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine all the wet ingredients: blood orange essential oil, almond oil, caffeine extract (optional), steam distilled coffee oil (optional), and the coconut orange cardamom fragrance oil.
- Using a clean spoon, transfer the dry ingredients into the bowl of wet ingredients slowly, scoop by scoop. Whisk thoroughly as you combine the ingredients for them to distribute evenly.
- Transfer to a 16-ounce glass jar or two eight-ounce jars. You’ll use up approximately eight ounces of the DIY coffee scrub for your face and body for each use.
